If you purchase a Magic Jack VoIP device and your area code is not available then people in your area when calling you will be charged a long distance fee. A lot of people find this out after they have bought the Magic Jack and were upset.
I have had the Magic Jack for two years now and am very happy with it for the most part. The one thing that I don't like is their lack of up front information on things such as this.
I found out about the lack of available Magic Jack area codes like a lot of people, when I was in the process of setting up my Phone number. For Me it wasn't that big of a deal because most of my incoming calls are long distance anyway and I had traded my $70.00 dollar a month phone bill for $19.95 a year, that's a $800.00 a year savings.
All but the 239 area code for Florida is available - see list below
